When you meet an alpaca...
When you meet an alpaca you should move very slowly so you don't scare them. They like to be petted on their necks and backs, most alpacas don't like their heads to be touched. If you want to talk to an alpaca you can make very quiet humming noise and they might reply.
Come and sit a while and watch these peaceful creatures. Their names are:
Capuccino
Coolidge
Smokey
Toledo
Sara Lee
Sarita Colonia
Blanca Nieves
Pilgrim
Cupcake
Sabrina
Yonalassi
Prancer
Santa Maria

Whether you are vacationing, visiting or living in Garrett County you could not choose a more peaceful and relaxing way to spend an afternoon. Enjoy our scenery, the surrounding hills and woodlands and most of all our alpacas quietly grazing in the fields. Sit for a while and take it all in, or take screen saver quality photos while you are here. Our alpacas especially love children and gather around to look at them when they visit.
You can walk in the fields with the alpacas and generally enjoy their curious dispositions. You can visit our farm store and buy alpaca yarn, scarves, sweaters, teddy bears, blankets, gloves and socks. You will be able to see the process taking raw fleece from our alpacas and carding and spinning it into yarn and finally making it into scarves, sweaters and other products. |
We are easy to reach from the Deep Creek Lake Area, from I-68 East take exit 19 at Grantsville and turn right towards Swanton-Bittinger, make the first left at Maple Grove Road and go to the junction with Hare Hollow Road, go right on Hare Hollow for about one mile and see the sign for BlueBell Farm Alpacas on the right.
